Akari Matsumoto is a session hair stylist and hairdresser based in Berlin and London. Originally from Japan, she has worked in hair salons across Japan, Canada, Australia, and the UK. Her journey into fashion shoots began after relocating to London. Born and raised in Japan, Akari developed a keen interest in movies and European fashion. She began investing time in these pursuits and started reading foreign fashion magazines. Following her high school graduation, she attended beauty college in Japan to study hair and makeup.

My style is simple yet sophisticated. I enjoy creating unique looks for models and photographs. During my twenties, During my time in London, I gained much inspiration for art direction and decided to rid myself of many things to discover my own style—what I like, what I consider sophisticated and unique—while still making models and photographs attractive. I am always striving for that balance.

My vision is evolving in creating sophisticated art with a touch of mystery. Hair is not only a secondary aspect of a fashion shoot but is also crucial. It's important not to overshadow the model and the photograph, while simultaneously telling a story through the images. Striking the right balance is crucial – showcasing the model's character and ensuring that the hair is not just a part of fashion but a reflection of my unique style.
