Sveta Aparina is a cinematographer from Ukraine. Born in 1993, she studied cinematography at the Kyiv University of Theater, Film, and Television. Currently, she resides between Berlin and London, working internationally. Starting her journey in the film industry at 18, Sveta has always been close to the camera. Since 2017, she's been working as a Director of Photography on commercials, music videos, and films. With each project, Sveta strives to cultivate a unique visual voice that perfectly complements the subject matter.

I would say that my style is quite distinctive. I enjoy keeping an intimate distance from the characters, letting viewers feel the action. I blend my emotions into my work, developing a deep sense of love for my characters while filming them. This emotional connection is something that I believe audiences can feel when watching my films. That's why I have a fondness for the hand-held camera, although I don't use it exclusively.
When reading scripts, vivid images immediately pop into my head, leading my imagination and emotional connection to the concept. I then tune into the vibe of the idea and the unique input I can bring. I then focus on understanding color combinations that will best suit the project, selecting the right lenses, and thinking about camera movements to immerse myself in the emotional space of the characters.
I also adapt my vision based on the final locations chosen for the project, closely collaborating with various departments like production design and styling to enhance the overall visual experience.

I would love to travel to Africa, Morocco, China, and other distant countries to work on projects. The charm of different cultures beckons me. The way color and light reveal themselves in these places fascinates me, and I want to incorporate those unique elements into a future project.
